Are you ever curious about where to convert your vehicle to CNG in Lagos?

In August 2023, the President of Nigeria (President Bola Ahmed Tinubu) launched the presidential compressed natural gas initiative (PCNGI) with the aim to introduce over 11,500 CNG enabled vehicles into Nigeria transportation system alongside 55,000 conversion kits for petrol-powered vehicles.

The initiative focused on reducing dependence on petrol, boosting local manufacturing, and creating jobs, all while fostering technical skill development. PCNGI also set up a national network of workshops to improve access to CNG technology and strengthen the economy.

Its main goals included helping states adopt CNG buses for public transportation, funding CNG bus conversions for private operators, and encouraging investment in CNG infrastructure.

By June 2024, twelve new CNG stations were launched in Lagos (6 of their locations are in this post) and Abuja through partnerships with NNPC and NIPCO Gas. In July 2024, PCNGI signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to convert one million commercial vehicles to CNG by 2027 and identified 2,000 workshops to support this initiative.
